Ian Hunter: Mick Ralphs talks Mott The Hoople, Bowie and blouses

I'd sung Ready For Love in Mott already because Ian [Hunter], bless him, said, 'I love those songs but they don't suit my voice,' which I completely understand.

"With the Mott thing, it took four years from 2009 to 2013 to get them to do it again. Me and Ian wanted to do more, but at the time the other guys weren't sure. So whether we do anything after this I've no idea. I've never had a plan - it was just to try and get with the people you like to play with, and try to do the best you can. So I've really no idea what's going to happen next year, whether there's going to be more Mott or more Bad Company. But I'm sure my blues band will still be filling in the gaps!"

Judge Rules Violating 4th Amendment Legal

NEW YORK — Citing the Sept. 11 attacks, a federal judge on Friday found that the National Security Agency's bulk collection of millions of Americans' telephone records is legal, a valuable part of the nation's arsenal to counter the threat of terrorism and "only works because it collects everything." Why China is stepping up its presence in Detroit auto industry

Detroit auto know-how, as well as the city's cheap real estate, is a draw to Chinese investment. The amount is relatively modest, and Chinese companies aren't talking yet about making cars here. But that could change. Christian Science Monit

Anne-Marie Waters, council member of the National Secular Society, begins the case for the opposition by denying that she and her fellow opposition speakers cause fear of Islam and blames instead "the actions of Islam itself".

She lists "9/11, 7/7, Mali, Somalia, gender discrimination, forced marriages, polygamy, amputation", and many more. To the opposition's claim that these acts belong to an "extreme fringe" which has misunderstood the words of the Qur'an, she described the executions for blasphemy and apostasy in Saudi Arabia, and asks "has there ever been a more spectacular misunderstanding?"

Waters concludes by arguing that it is the moderate Muslims who must "dance around meanings" and "stretch interpretations" when confronted with the fundamentally violent ideology of the Qur'an.

Obama Shakes Raúl Castro's Hand

For those who believe in human rights and liberty, the sight of our president bounding up some stairs to energetically shake hands with Raul Castro, dictator of Cuba, was more than a little unsettling -- regardless of the circumstance. But that's what President Obama seemed to go out of his way to do at Nelson Mandela's memorial service Tuesday. Although Castro has imprisoned American Alan Gross for four years now, CNN alternately applauded and made excuses for the handshake.

Public says America's world leadership has tumbled to 40-year low

For the first time in nearly 40 years, a majority of Americans believe the United States is less important around the world and that it should mind its own business, a stunning rejection of Obama’s foreign policy just four years after he received the Nobel Prize.

A new Pew Research Center poll found that 53 percent of people believe that the U.S. is playing a less important role as a world leader than a decade ago, the highest figure since 1984.

Worse: 70 percent said that the U.S. is respected less than in the past, almost matching the high reached under former President George W. Bush, whose foreign policy Obama pledged to reverse.

IRRC Votes in Favor of Chapter 4 Revisions Despite Outcry from Public

The PA Independent Regulatory Review Commission (IRRC) voted 3-2 in favor of the Chapter 4 regulations (adopting Pennsylvania Core Standards aka Common Core) despite public outcry, letters from legislators and comments from school administrators, teachers and staff.

The three yes votes were:
Silvan B. Lutkewitte, III, (R) Chairman
John F. Mizner, Esq. (R)
Lawrence J. Tabas, Esq. (R)

The two no votes were:
George D. Bedwick, Vice Chairman, (D)
Dennis A. Watson, Esq., (D)

You can read the final approval at: IRRC Final Approval.

It is more important than ever for you to continue this battle.  We need to focus our efforts on the following tasks:

1.         Local
Every supporter of local control needs to engage his/her school board and lobby them to write and pass a resolution rescinding Common Core.  You can find an example of a resolution that was recently approved by the Coatesville School Board here on the Stop Common Core in Pa Website:  Coatsville SD Resolution.

2.         Education
Every opponent of Common Core should continue to educate other citizens on what is happening through coffee klatches, school board meetings, soccer games and kitchen tables.

3.         Curriculum
We need to stay attentive to and stay on top of the curriculum and lesson plans in our area schools.  We need to red flag any lesson plan that is questionable.  Most importantly, we need to make sure our children gets the extra support particularly in the math so this will have a minimal effect on them.  You can report any questionable curriculum and lesson plans to the following Facebook page:  Inappropriate Common Core Lessons.  This page is also a great resource in helping you discover where some inappropriate lessons already exist.  We encourage you to become members of this page.

4.       Legislators
We will be distributing a list of the legislators who opposed Common Core and Chapter 4 regulations and actively fought alongside of us.  There will also be a list of legislators who actively supported it despite hundreds, even thousands of pleas to oppose it.  They ignored you, the voter. Finally, there are the legislators who did nothing.  They did nothing despite your constant tireless pleas to help oppose this monster.  All of these legislators will be up for election, including Governor Corbett who had and still has the power to stop Common Core now.

1787 warning about Obama, “Brutus Junior” in Anti-Federalist Paper #38

“I deny that we are in immediate danger of anarchy and commotions. Nothing but the passions of wicked and ambitious men will put us in the least danger on this head. Those who are anxious to precipitate a measure will always tell us that the present is the critical moment; now is the time, the crisis is arrived, and the present minute must be seized. Tyrants have always made use of this plea; but nothing in our circumstances can justify it.”
