The U.S. Geological Survey has called the Bakken the largest continuous oil accumulation it had ever assessed. The agency, which bases its data largely on information from oil company and state drilling records, said up to 7.4 billion barrels of oil could be recovered from the Bakken and the underlying Three Forks using current technology. http://news.yahoo.com/bakken-oil-fields-mark-billionth-164007099.html

British Man Arrested for Quoting Winston Churchill

Paul Weston, a member of the GB Liberty Party, and current candidate for the South East England constituency of the European Union Parliament, delivered a speech in Winchester, a part of his constituency, in which he quoted from Winston Churchill’s 1899 book, “The River War: An Account of the Reconquest of the Sudan.” In particular, Weston quoted Churchill on the topic of Islam. As a result of his speech (and his refusal to stop speaking), Weston was arrested. “How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities – but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.” http://youtu.be/HQzV_-latew

Obama to Imam at Victory Mosque: 'Pray For Me'

Malaysia’s Star newspaper quoted Abdullah Muhammad Zin, religious advisor to Prime Minister Najib Razak, as saying it was “not common” for the leader of a superpower to include a visit to a mosque in his itinerary. “There can be no better way for Obama to honor Islam than by visiting Masjid Negara,” he said. Bernama quoted several other senior Muslim figures commenting on the visit. “This is out of the ordinary as I cannot recall any non-Muslim world leader visiting the National Mosque and this is a good start for Muslims here,” said Ustaz Wan Akashah Wan Abdul Hamid, a religious scholar.Invited to comment on Obama’s decision to visit a mosque but not a church while in the country, Council of Churches of Malaysia general secretary Hermen Shastri demurred, but said that those responsible for arranging the visit had “ensured that he is made aware of the religious freedom issues in the country.”http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/patrick-goodenough/imam-obama-end-oppression-muslims-obama-imam-pray-me

State Propaganda to Indoctrinate Children about Obama

The 2008 election “should not just be a mere footnote within textbooks, but rather focus on the significance of Americans overcoming our nation’s past and acknowledging that Americans are moving in the right direction.”

Thus, all those minor presidents like Washington and Lincoln should be downplayed, and unimportant things such as the civil rights movement should be superseded by the election of someone who has harmed the upward mobility of minorities.

Why Not Revisit Harry Reid's Racism?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/09/AR2010010902141.html Wouldn't it have been a good time for the Post to re-visit Harry Reid's racism following his latest conflict with the Nevada rancher who is defending his property? No, that would have come too close to responsible journalism for that to happen. Racism is racism but the Left gets a pass for its bigotry every time. The difference in the ill-spoken comments is that one person is an ordinary citizen and the other represents a state and is a Senator. While both comments are regrettable the rancher is not a public figure and is simply exercising his free speech rights. People who are not elected officials have every right to express themselves publicly and without condemnation. If racism is truly the issue here, and it is not, then Reid's comments should be examined critically and ought to be publicly condemned. The upshot of the contention, the overreaching power of the Federal government, will be drowned out by the sideshow and distraction of the racial comments of the rancher. The Alinsky-ite tactic of demonizing an opponent is effective and works. The Post should be ashamed of its perfidy.

Milton Friedman Equal Pay for Equal Work

“Over and over we have to look at the actual consequences of policies, not the names of them. The immediate occasion that we’re talking about now…”equal pay for equal work,” is a claim for people supposedly for the feminist cause. Now I believe that’s an anti-feminist slogan. It will hurt the feminists. It will not help them. Why? I believe that every individual man, woman, or child should have an opportunity to get a job if he wants to and can do it. But now, if there are some people who are prejudiced — if Mr. Jones is a male chauvinist — and he would prefer to have a man rather than a woman; or a Mr. Smith is a believer in feminine rights, and would prefer to have a woman rather than a man, it doesn’t matter. But take the male chauvinist pig: If you have a law that he must pay the woman and the man the same, and if he can find some way around having to hire the woman, he gets away free. He doesn’t have to pay for his prejudice. On the other hand, suppose he has the prejudice, but we let people compete. Then the woman at least has the weapon of offering to work for less. And he has to pay for his prejudice. The free market, by enabling people to compete openly, is the most effective device that has ever been invented for making people pay for their prejudices, and thus for making it costly for them to exercise it. And what you do when you impose the equal pay for equal work law, is that you make the expression of prejudice costless. And as a result you harm the people you intend to help.” “I do not believe that it is desirable that we move in the direction of having a government bureaucrat decide whether A may hire B or not, whoever A and B are…and in consequence I think programs of this kind are both reducing our freedom and reducing equality. And they will…disadvantage…the very groups [which the policymakers and their supporters] intended to help.” http://youtu.be/bZA1Q_1t1E0 Also of note, Friedman recommends W.H. Hutt’s “The Economics of the Colour Bar,” a book we have discussed before, in which Hutt argues that apartheid in South Africa began with a trade union push for “equal pay” for “equal work” legislation.

Mott The Hoople and Leee Black Childers

Re: Leee Black Childers You pretty much have it right. Leee was our wardrobe man on the '74 US tour and did a lot more behind the scenes, helping Stan, etc. He was always cheerful, professional, and chic. A very likeable, intelligent, kind, charming man. If I'd've been gay, well . . . Morgan Fisher "Probably for audience enthusiasm, I must rank number one in my experience, the Mott the Hoople fans. I went on tour with them a few times in the early 70's and the crowds, worldwide, were always nuts. I put it down to the music. The minute it began, the crowds didn't stop until the very end. I look at the pictures, 1974, I guess, and look at those kids, and wonder why they wanted to reach out, but most of all, I really hope that whatever they were reaching toward, after all these years, lead them to happiness." Labor Beat: Adjunct Faculty Protest at East-West University

85% of the faculty at East-West University, located on Chicago's Michigan Ave., are adjunct (not full time). Last spring, when word leaked to the administration that they were organizing a union with the Illinois Education Association, they were fired. On the same week of a demonstration called by the United Adjunct Faculty Association at the school, the NLRB filed an Unfair Labor Practice against East-West University (EWU) for violating the federally-protected rights of adjunct faculty. Common Core Opponent Suspended for Excercising Free Speech

The Mark Twain School in Sacramento has told the mother of a 12-year-old student that she has been suspended for two weeks. Police in Sacramento served the 14-day suspension to Katherine Duran in her home following a disagreement with the school over the soon-to-be enacted Common Core standards.

The two week suspension was reportedly triggered after the officials charged that Katherine Duran was “disrupting the school.” When asked to clarify what Duran’s disruption was, Gabe Ross, a spokesperson for the school district, told the media, “It appears (she) went a little too far with regards to how she distributed information at school sites, distributing information to children directly.”

Update, Harry Reid Outsourcing for Communists, Land Grab for China, We the People Defeat the Feds

The Feds were using the Bureau of Land Management to bully and intimidate ranchers like Bundy, pushing them off public land in order to pave the way for lucrative “green energy” projects backed by the Communist Chinese government and linked to Nevada Senator Harry Reid.

Is the Nevada situation the first time the military will be used against American citizens? Americans have a right to private property. The Constitution protects us against tyranny. So where our leaders, where are the civil rights activists, where are those who fight for rights, liberty and the freedom of American citizens?

The U.S. Senate voted 71-28 on Tuesday to confirm the appointment of Neil Kornze to the post. Kornze was raised in Elko and is a former senior adviser to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. He joined the BLM in 2011 and has been leading the agency as principal deputy director for the past year.

Heartbleed Net Bug Explained

Maher Tricks Guests With ‘Racist’ Paul Ryan Quote That Was Actually Said by Moochelle Obama

Bill Maher Trips Up Guests with 'Racist' Paul Ryan Quote. Except Michelle Obama Said it

Bill Maher took on Paul Ryan's recent comments about black culture and while he didn't necessarily agree with Ryan, he did find it striking that prominent black people have made the same point he did but haven't been attacked by the left, which begged the question, "Is something less true if a white person says it?"

Comedian W. Kamau Bell argued you can't blame people in the inner city "for not having jobs when there's no jobs in the inner cities." Republican Rick Lazio pointed out that Democrats are the ones running these cities and asked what they've ever done to solve the problem.

Maher then read a quote from Paul Ryan about how lazy kids are these days and how they need to aspire to be more than "ballers" and "rappers"... except that Ryan didn't say it. Michelle Obama did. Maher asked, "Is something less true if a white person says it about black people?"

Free Speech College Student Arrested

Nicholas Saucier, a student at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield, recorded video of a conversation in October 2013 with Malloy, a Democrat, who was speaking at ACC that day. Saucier tried to get Malloy to answer questions about his support for gun control legislation, which has put Saucier’s ammunition manufacturing business in jeopardy. The conversation was halted abruptly when Malloy got into his car and left. http://youtu.be/wDGqBJyntQU
