Ft. Dix Five Trial Begins
Five foreign born Albanian Muslims in their 20s who planned an attack on Fort Dix were inspired by AQ, Deputy U.S. Attorney William Fitzpatrick stated at the start of their trial in Camden, N.J. Their paintball games in 2006 and 2007 emerged into terrorist training sessions and they discussed a plot, nipped in the bud, was to sneak into the New Jersey Army base and kill soldiers. The five are charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and weapons offenses. The government plans to play 90 recordings that would show the defendants planning and training for an attack. More than 200 people are listed as potential witnesses. The trial is expected to stretch into December.
