In Dreams From My Father Obamabow accuses the British of torturing his Grandad although Obama's grandpappy was a Luo, a tribe which is sworn enemies with the Kikuyu, Meru, and Embu tribes, members of which were involved in the Mau Mau uprising. Interestingly the Luo do not regard themselves as a sub Saharan African tribe but as Arabs, despite clearly being genetically a branch of the African race. In bowing to a Saudi, Obamabow may just be recognizing his roots.
