Goddess of Democracy Inspires Chinese Students 20 Years Ago

Twenty years ago today the Goddess of Democracy stood in Tiananmen Square and thousands of students and their supporters hoped for a more just and democratic China. Within a week their peaceful protest was brutally put down, with thousands murdered, and families billed for the bullets that killed their loved ones. The square was cleared.
