Hillary Clinton to Address U.S.-Islamic Gathering in Washington, First Time in USA
Clinton’s participation last year was the first time a senior member of a U.S. administration had taken part; Rashad Hussain, a former White House deputy associate counsel, was appointed as special envoy to the OIC – an appointment marked by some controversy. Hussain was quoted as telling a Muslim students' event in Chicago that if U.S. Muslims did not speak out against the injustices taking place in America, then everyone's rights would be in jeopardy. At first he denied making such statements but an audio tape surfaced with his comments.
