"Ian hunter performed a mixture of tracks from his time with Mott the Hoople and from his solo career, whilst also throwing in a couple of well rehearsed covers: these being Isolation by John Lennon and Sweet Jane by the Velvet Underground (considerably better than when performed by Lou Reed the previous year!). The covers were the only tracks I properly enjoyed throughout the set, though to give Ian Hunter credit I had not listened to anything other than his hits though as a stage performer (along with the rest of the band) he was very good, especially for a man of 73. This was set to change however for Ian’s big finale, ‘All the Young Dudes’. This anthem in glam rock was written by David Bowie and performed by Mott the Hoople in 1972 and is one of my favourite songs of all time. Closing the set with this was clearly a great idea, as I’d imagine almost everyone is aware of the songs existence, making it a real sing along tune. The only niggle at this set is not aimed at the performer, but at the crowd for instead watching Kool and the Gang and not singing along to one of the best songs of all time."
