What Would I Do Without You, Defiance Part 2: Fiction

“What Would I Do Without You” is a raw emotional song which sees Hunter sharing lead vocals with Lucinda Williams – one of the few duets in his extensive canon. His son Jesse sang on and Genya Ravan sang also.

“Lucinda and her husband came to one of my shows in Nashville,” Hunter says. “I love her voice, there’s something very childlike, and you just know it’s her straight away. You don’t forget that voice.”

What Would I Do Without You?’ is a lusciously tender number, with Ian and Lucinda Williams duetting beautifully, with Benmont Tench adding his own wonderful touches musically.
