Shirley Sherrod, USDA Rural Development Georgia State Director, delivered at the NAACP's 20th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet.
The video shows Sherrod speaking of racial considerations being a factor for how much help she would give.
"The first time I was faced with having to help a white farmer save his farm, he took a long time talking but he was trying to show me he was superior to me. I know what he was doing, but he had come to me for help. What he didn't know while he was taking all that time trying to show me he was superior to me was, I was trying to decide just how much help I was going to give him," Sherrod said.
"I was struggling with the fact that so many black people had lost their farmland, and here I was faced with having to help a white person save their land. So I didn't give him the full force of what I could do. I did enough," Sherrod said. "So that when he, I assumed the Department of Agriculture had sent him to me, either that or the Georgia Department of Agriculture, and he needed to go back and report that I did try to help him."
In the video, Sherrod also spoke of referring the white farmer to a white lawyer, thinking the latter would be more sympathetic because of race. "So I took him to a white lawyer that had attended some of training that we had provided because Chapter 12 bankruptcy had just been enacted for the family farm. So I figured if I take him to one of them, that his own kind would take care of him."
The NAACP had no immediate response.

The top-secret world the government created in response to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has become so large, so unwieldy and so secretive that no one knows how much money it costs, how many people it employs, how many programs exist within it or exactly how many agencies do the same work.
These are some of the findings of a two-year investigation by The Washington Post that discovered what amounts to an alternative geography of the United States, a Top Secret America hidden from public view and lacking in thorough oversight. After nine years of unprecedented spending and growth, the result is that the system put in place to keep the United States safe is so massive that its effectiveness is impossible to determine.
The investigation's other findings include:
* Some 1,271 government organizations and 1,931 private companies work on programs related to counterterrorism, homeland security and intelligence in about 10,000 locations across the United States.
* An estimated 854,000 people, nearly 1.5 times as many people as live in Washington, D.C., hold top-secret security clearances.
* In Washington and the surrounding area, 33 building complexes for top-secret intelligence work are under construction or have been built since September 2001. Together they occupy the equivalent of almost three Pentagons or 22 U.S. Capitol buildings - about 17 million square feet of space.
As noted thirteen months ago here on Blog Smith, the Cairo speech was the beginning of a major re-definition of American religious practice. In June 2009, Obama substituted the common Islamic/international phrase of "freedom of worship," as has Clinton, as a replacement for the traditional 1st Amendment phrase freedom of religion.
Obama highlighted the change, barely noted in the U.S., in his Cairo speech stating, "Moreover, freedom in America is indivisible from the freedom to practice one's religion. That is why there is a mosque in every state of our union, and over 1,200 mosques within our borders. That is why the U.S. government has gone to court to protect the right of women and girls to wear the hijab, and to punish those who would deny it."

In a new book documenting the connection between Islam and Obama-style socialism, a former top terrorism prosecutor chides the national media for failing to investigate Obama’s "borderline criminal" activities in his homeland of Kenya as a U.S. senator.
Andrew C. McCarthy, the former U.S. attorney who investigated the American embassy bombing in Nairobi, Kenya, charges that Obama interfered in Kenya’s internal politics possibly in violation of the Logan Act.
The centuries-old law bars Americans who are "without authority of the United States" from conducting relations "with any foreign government … in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States."
In "The Grand Jihad: How Islam and the Left Sabotage America," McCarthy says Obama undermined U.S. relations with a strong anti-terrorism ally in an African region where al-Qaida operates. In 2006, he details in the book how Obama campaigned for a pro-communist candidate running against Nairobi’s pro-American government – "in outrageous contravention of U.S. policy and, probably, federal law."
According to the State Department statement, the Post will have a website revealing all. "The website provides a graphic representation pinpointing the location of firms conducting Top Secret work, describing the type of work they perform, and identifying many facilities where such work is done."
State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley confirmed the authenticity of the e-mail and said it went out to all State Department employees in the Washington, DC area, 14,574 people.
The Atlantic's Marc Ambinder published a related memo by Art House, the communications director of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which appears to be just as worried as the State Department about the Post's reporting. According to an excerpt:

The intelligence enterprise has undergone exponential growth and has become unmanageable with overlapping authorities and a heavily outsourced contractor workforce.
The IC and the DoD have wasted significant time and resources, especially in the areas of counterterrorism and counterintelligence.
The intelligence enterprise has taken its eyes off its post-9/11 mission and is spending its energy on competitive and redundant programs.
Format
The Washington Post may run a series of three articles, the first being an overview, the second focused on the large number of contractors supporting the intelligence enterprise, and the third looking at a specific community (the Fort Meade/BWI Airport area) that has expanded in part due to Intelligence Community growth.
The Washington Post is expected to work with Public Broadcasting Service's Frontline program to add a television component to this work, and will also present an interactive web site demonstrating growth of the intelligence enterprise and inviting comment and dialogue. The Post advises that "links" between individual contractors and specific agencies have been deleted, although the Post will still cite contractors and their locations.

People were wearing Arizona T-shirts, visit Arizona, and other pro-Arizona messages. The anti-Arizona crowd had the presence of at least one burqa. Numerous songs, signs, and slogans were in Spanish. Oddly enough, the local news media focused on Hispanics in their version of the event but it was a mostly Caucasian crowd against Arizona; there were hardly any Hispanics which is odd because quite a few businesses in South Philly are Spanish shops. There are quite a few Hispanics in the largely Italian South Philly area but they didn't demonstrate. There was some yelling back and forth and the counter-group tried to drown out the radio broadcast. The police kept people across the street and even though there were narrow South Philly streets people generally stayed away from one another and behind the police barricades separating the two separate crowds.

With the arrival of the nanny state of course it is not free; taxpayers will be paying for other kids whose parents do not effectively parent them.
"Using facts, we will reconstruct the face of Cyber Army, including who they are, where they are, who they target, what they want, what they do, their funding, objectives, organization, processes, active hours, tools, and techniques," the presenters wrote in a description of their talk, posted to the Black Hat Web site.
The presenters, Wayne Huang, chief technology officer with Taiwanese security vendor Armorize, and Jack Yu, are researchers with the company. Huang was allowed to go forward with an earlier version of the talk at a 2007 conference in Taipei. Three years ago, the data was presented to a mostly Taiwanese audience at a small, obscure conference. Presenting at Black Hat, the world's preeminent security research conference, would have put it before a much larger audience.
Much has happened in the past three years and the talk would no doubt have proved enlightening.

A Republican senator from Louisiana, David Vitter, is suggesting the dispute over Obama's eligibility to be president be resolved in court.
"I support conservative legal organizations and others who would bring that to court," the Associated Press reported a video of the event revealed him saying.
Vitter becomes just the latest high-profile leader, and the first U.S. senator, to take such a strong stand on the issue.
Vitter was responding to a constituent who on Sunday at a town hall meeting in Metairie, La., asked about Obama's "refusal to produce" a "birth certificate."
The AP reported the crowd applauded the question, and Vitter said he doesn't have personal "standing" for litigation.
But he said he supports those groups that are bringing the question to court.
"I think that is the valid and most possibly effective grounds to do it," he said.
He said "first and foremost" Americans need to "fight the Obama agenda at the ballot box starting this fall."
Vitter said, according to the AP report, that the matters of the nation are too important to be diverted by distractions.
“Well I voted for Obama, I helped write one of his speeches,” Zuckerman told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto.
Asked which speech he helped write, Zuckerman responded, “I’d rather not go into that.”
Zuckerman was identified by John Mearsheimer, political science professor at the University of Chicago, and Stephen Walt, academic dean of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, as a a member of the media wing of the “Israeli lobby” in the United States. Zuckerman responded to the charge by stating he was “proud” to be part of the Israeli lobby.

Obama is at odds with the Petraeus doctrine on Islam. Petraeus clearly defined the enemy in his 2006 Counter-insurgency manual. The Petraeus doctrine refers to "Islamic insurgents," "Islamic extremists" and "Islamic subversives." It details ties between Muslim support groups and terrorists. From the beginning of the text, I-22ff, Petraeus rightfully describes the enemy and has successfully combated Islamism to protect American soldiers. It is not for Petraeus to be an apologist nor unduly politically correct when defining the Islam he battles. Obama is violating the wall of separation between religion and state (although he has little compunction against minimizing Christianity and separating it from the U.S. government) by advocating Islamic interests from the White House. With the recent resignation of McChrystal I wonder if this disconnect between Obama's advocacy of Islam and the enemy Americans fight overseas played a role.
John O. Brennan, Obama's chief national security adviser for counter-terrorism, delivered a major policy address on defining the enemy. He laid out the White House policy of detaching any reference to Islam. Moreover, Brennan has largely functioned as running interference for Islam since being appointed.

The initial filing is so week I would suspect the DOJ filing will be thrown out. However, Obama can make political noises with the discrimination nonsense so Holder was out on the Sunday talk shows hinting at a subsequent suit. Give it up boys. You lost. If the best and initial filing will fail, as I suspect it will, then the second filing is just frivolous. Its a waste of taxpayer's money.
The statements by Kagan came in an exchange with Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla. Farah said most of the press failed to cover her responses, which he deemed as newsworthy as any she made during the hearings:
Coburn: Do you believe it is a fundamental, pre-existing right to have an arm to defend yourself?
Kagan: Senator Coburn, I very much appreciate how deeply important the right to bear arms is to millions and millions of Americans. And I accept Heller, which made clear that the Second Amendment conferred that right upon individuals, and not simply collectively.
Coburn: I'm asking you, Elena Kagan, do you personally believe there is a fundamental right in this area? Do you agree with Blackstone [in] the natural right of resistance and self-preservation, the right of having and using arms for self-preservation and defense? He didn't say that was a constitutional right. He said that's a natural right. And what I'm asking you is, do you agree with that?
Kagan: Senator Coburn, to be honest with you, I don't have a view of what are natural rights, independent of the Constitution. And my job as a justice will be to enforce and defend the Constitution and the laws of the United States.
Coburn: So you wouldn't embrace what the Declaration of Independence says, that we have certain God-given, inalienable rights that aren't given in the Constitution that are ours, ours alone, and that a government doesn't give those to us?
Kagan: Senator Coburn, I believe that the Constitution is an extraordinary document, and I'm not saying I do not believe that there are rights pre-existing the Constitution and the laws. But my job as a justice is to enforce the Constitution and the laws.
Coburn: Well, I understand that. I'm not talking about as a justice. I'm talking about Elena Kagan. What do you believe? Are there inalienable rights for us? Do you believe that?
Kagan: Senator Coburn, I think that the question of what I believe as to what people's rights are outside the Constitution and the laws, that you should not want me to act in any way on the basis of such a belief.
Coburn: I would want you to always act on the basis of the belief of what our Declaration of Independence says.
Kagan: I think you should want me to act on the basis of law. And that is what I have upheld to do, if I'm fortunate enough to be confirmed, is to act on the basis of law, which is the Constitution and the statutes of the United States.
Maldonado said he asked Carnahan's office if his citizenship documentation would be public record and available to anyone who wants a copy.
"They said, oh yes, absolutely, anyone that wants proof, we have it," he explained. "I said, OK, can you do me a favor then? I'm sure Ms. Carnahan requested the same of Barack Obama when he petitioned to get on the Missouri ballot to become president."
He added, "They had no response. They had nothing."
"But I decided something different. I'm actually considering suing Ms. Robin Carnahan because she discriminated against me," he said.
In an earlier interview on the subject, Maldonado said he spoke with other candidates running for the same office and asked if they had to show proof of citizenship or prove that they were citizens.
"They said no. I was the only one," he said.
