Regime Admits Islamists of Al Qaeda Behind Benghazi

For the first-time ever today, the U.S. State Department identified specific Islamisterrorist groups behind the deadly attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012. The official announcement comes one day before the 16-month anniversary of the eight-hour assault that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens, information specialist Sean Smith and Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. It also further exposes as false the Obama administration’s “cover story” that the terror attacks were a spontaneous response to an obscure anti-Muslim video. Here’s an excerpt from today’s statement: "Ansar al-Shari'a in Benghazi and Ansar al-Shari'a in Darnah have been involved in terrorist attacks against civilian targets, frequent assassinations, and attempted assassinations of security officials and political actors in eastern Libya, and the September 11, 2012 attacks against the U.S. Special Mission and Annex in Benghazi, Libya." What may be even worse is that the State Department also says, "Members of both organizations continue to pose a threat to U.S. interests in Libya." So, not only is no one in custody 16 months after the murderous assault, but those same terrorists STILL “pose a threat.” The State Department identified two of those terrorists in their announcement today. According to FOX News, one of them “has historic ties to the Al Qaeda network” and even trained under Osama bin Laden.

EXCLUSIVE–REP BRIDENSTINE: OBAMA’S POLITICS OF WAR CANNOT CONTINUE IN AFGHANISTAN

As a Navy pilot who flew combat missions in Afghanistan (2002) and Iraq (2003) and now as a Member of Congress, I cannot react to the news of Al Qaeda in Iraq’s resurgence in Fallujah and Ramadi with anything but frustration and anger. Frustration – because so much American blood was spilled wresting these cities from insurgents. Anger – because the Obama Administration put ideology and politics above the national interest. Our policy in Afghanistan must be more responsible than our policy in Iraq.

Al Qaeda controls more territory than ever in Middle East

(CNN) -- From around Aleppo in western Syria to small areas of Falluja in central Iraq, al Qaeda now controls territory that stretches more than 400 miles across the heart of the Middle East, according to English and Arab language news accounts as well as accounts on jihadist websites. Indeed, al Qaeda appears to control more territory in the Arab world than it has done at any time in its history.

That’s rich: Poverty level under Obama breaks 50-year record

The Washington Times

Fifty years after President Johnson started a $20 trillion taxpayer-funded war on poverty, the overall percentage of impoverished people in the U.S. has declined only slightly and the poor have lost ground under Obama.

Although the president often rails against income inequality in America, his policies have had little impact overall on poverty. A record 47 million Americans receive food stamps, about 13 million more than when he took office.

Gates on Billary: Thumbs down on Iraq

In a new memoir of his time as secretary of defense in the Obama administration, Gates writes: “Hillary told the president that her opposition to the [2007] surge in Iraq had been political because she was facing him in the Iowa primary. . . . The president conceded vaguely that opposition to the Iraq surge had been political. To hear the two of them making these admissions, and in front of me, was as surprising as it was dismaying.”

Robert Gates, former defense secretary, offers harsh critique of Obama’s leadership in ‘Duty’

In a new memoir, former defense secretary Robert Gates unleashes harsh judgments about President Obama’s leadership and his commitment to the Afghanistan war, writing that by early 2010 he had concluded the president “doesn’t believe in his own strategy, and doesn’t consider the war to be his. For him, it’s all about getting out.”

American Taxpayers Redistribute Wealth for Fiat in Italy

At the beginning of 2014, Detroit may be bankrupt, but they’re cheering the five-year-old U.S. auto bailout in Italy. That’s because after being the beneficiary of billions in U.S. taxpayer largesse, Fiat, the leading Italian auto company, is going to buy its final stake in Chrysler from that other big bailout recipient, the United Auto Workers (UAW).

Ian Hunter: Mick Ralphs talks Mott The Hoople, Bowie and blouses

I'd sung Ready For Love in Mott already because Ian [Hunter], bless him, said, 'I love those songs but they don't suit my voice,' which I completely understand.

"With the Mott thing, it took four years from 2009 to 2013 to get them to do it again. Me and Ian wanted to do more, but at the time the other guys weren't sure. So whether we do anything after this I've no idea. I've never had a plan - it was just to try and get with the people you like to play with, and try to do the best you can. So I've really no idea what's going to happen next year, whether there's going to be more Mott or more Bad Company. But I'm sure my blues band will still be filling in the gaps!"

NEW YORK — Citing the Sept. 11 attacks, a federal judge on Friday found that the National Security Agency's bulk collection of millions of Americans' telephone records is legal, a valuable part of the nation's arsenal to counter the threat of terrorism and "only works because it collects everything." Anne-Marie Waters, council member of the National Secular Society, begins the case for the opposition by denying that she and her fellow opposition speakers cause fear of Islam and blames instead "the actions of Islam itself".

She lists "9/11, 7/7, Mali, Somalia, gender discrimination, forced marriages, polygamy, amputation", and many more. To the opposition's claim that these acts belong to an "extreme fringe" which has misunderstood the words of the Qur'an, she described the executions for blasphemy and apostasy in Saudi Arabia, and asks "has there ever been a more spectacular misunderstanding?"

Waters concludes by arguing that it is the moderate Muslims who must "dance around meanings" and "stretch interpretations" when confronted with the fundamentally violent ideology of the Qur'an.

For those who believe in human rights and liberty, the sight of our president bounding up some stairs to energetically shake hands with Raul Castro, dictator of Cuba, was more than a little unsettling -- regardless of the circumstance. But that's what President Obama seemed to go out of his way to do at Nelson Mandela's memorial service Tuesday. Although Castro has imprisoned American Alan Gross for four years now, CNN alternately applauded and made excuses for the handshake.
