In the '90s I taught the history of science at Hahnemann with Theme and Variations dealing with the founder of transhumanism, Condorcet:
Locally, an Episcopal priest sponsored a workshop about ten years ago that I attended using Remaking Eden, cautiously optimistic about the possibilities:
As I have pointed out, Christians could be a bigger influence, but they are merely one of the many possible options for transhumanism.
Instead of the doom and gloom conspiracy perspective, I am cautiously optimistic, and, I still maintain that Christian intellectuals should get engaged in the debate and not hide in basements.
Why not find better sources than conspiracy nuts and Christians who don't want to engage the culture?
I wonder if there are any Christian groups that combine a profound and deep understanding of history, Christian theology, and are at the cutting edge of dialogue with secular thinkers as well? Oh yes, what about the Roman Catholics?
