Stiglitz Calls IMF Rescue of Greece `Sad' for Europe
Bloomberg — April 09, 2010 — April 9 (Bloomberg) -- Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz talks with Bloomberg's Francine Lacqua about Greece's debt problem and China's currency. Stiglitz said an International Monetary Fund rescue of Greece would be a "sad" chapter in the history of the European Union. (Source: Bloomberg)
Baker Calls Greenspan's Defense of Fed's Record `Silly'
Bloomberg — April 07, 2010 — April 7 (Bloomberg) -- Dean Baker, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research, talks with Bloomberg's Matt Miller and Carol Massar about former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's testimony on his leadership of the central bank. "The Federal Reserve, often in partnership with the other federal banking agencies, was quite active in pursuing consumer protections for mortgage borrowers," Greenspan said in Washington. "Regulations and guidelines, however, do require enforcement, and the structure of the Federal Reserve during my tenure was much more focused on regulation and supervision than on enforcement." “It’s a nice fantasy. It sounds good. It would be wonderful. It just doesn’t fit this particular planet. And, over here you have North Korea, Pakistan, Iran, Al-Qaeda and a whole host of potential enemies…
I think if you were to say, “He’s potentially the most dangerous because he completely misunderstands reality.” …You get an embrace if you are Hugo Chavez. You get acceptance if you’re Ahmadinejad in Iran. But, if you’re an American ally, somehow you’re not acceptable. He can bully you.
And, I think this is a typical pattern on the left. Jimmy Carter did it to some extent. The other thing that Obama does on a scale that Carter never dreamed of, is he believes, maybe because he believes in his own rhetoric… He believes that words are a substitute for reality."
AP sources: FBI arrests man for threatening Pelosi. Either the guy is insane or he a plant. After repeatedly phoning Pelosi and identifying himself this is hardly the work of a sane person or an individual who has a legitimate complaint. It may be a trumped up, rigged situation to portray political opponents as illegitimate. We can watch Pelosi and see how she plays the situation to gain an insight into the alleged threat.
"Islamic radicalism" is gone from Obama's vocabulary in a significant shift in the National Security Strategy, a document that previously outlined the Bush Doctrine of preventive war. It currently states, "The struggle against militant Islamic radicalism is the great ideological conflict of the early years of the 21st century."
Obama formed the administration's Global Engagement Directorate, a four-person National Security Council team that launched last May with little fanfare and a vague mission to use diplomacy and outreach "in pursuit of a host of national security objectives." Since then, the division has not only helped change the vocabulary of fighting terrorism, but also has shaped the way the country invests in Muslim businesses, studies global warming, supports scientific research and combats polio.
To promote Muslim business representatives from more than 40 countries head to Washington this month for an "entrepreneurship summit."
American efforts pay for the eradication of polio with the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, a multinational body based in Saudi Arabia.
Sheehan Says Crisis Panel Prepared Well for Greenspan
April 07, 2010 — April 7 (Bloomberg) -- Author Frederick Sheehan talks with Bloomberg's Lori Rothman and Mark Crumpton about former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's testimony today before the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission in Washington. Sheehan wrote "Panderer to Power: The Untold Story of How Alan Greenspan Enriched Wall Street and Left a Legacy of Recession." Sheehan sent each member of the commission a letter and a copy of his book. (Source: Bloomberg)
“History's Mysteries: Grigori Rasputin,” The History Channel website, http://www.history.com/videos/historys-mysteries-grigori-rasputin (accessed Apr 5, 2010).
Obama edited Christ out of his “holiday greeting” when he excerpted a sermon given by a military chaplain on Iwo Jima on Easter Sunday 1945.
Below is the relevant paragraph from Obama’s holiday greeting today:
The rites of Passover, and the traditions of Easter, have been marked by people in every corner of the planet for thousands of years. They have been marked in times of peace, in times of upheaval, in times of war.
One such war-time service was held on the black sands of Iwo Jima more than sixty years ago. There, in the wake of some of the fiercest fighting of World War II, a chaplain rose to deliver an Easter sermon, consecrating the memory, he said “of American dead – Catholic, Protestant, Jew. Together,” he said, “they huddled in foxholes or crouched in the bloody sands…Together they practiced virtue, patriotism, love of country, love of you and of me.” The chaplain continued, “The heritage they have left us, the vision of a new world, [was] made possible by the common bond that united them…their only hope that this unity will endure.”
Their only hope that this unity will endure.
Now read below the same paragraph again, but this time note the additional italicized language that comes from the original audio of the 1945 sermon but what Obama decided not to include:
There, in the wake of some of the fiercest fighting of World War II, a chaplain rose to deliver an Easter sermon, consecrating the memory, he said:
He has risen. With all due reverence, we apply these words to our beloved dead.
There are too many air call wings encrusted with the stain of their owners’ life blood, too many marine trousers upon the graves, too many symbols of American dead – Catholic, Protestant, Jew. Together,” he said, “they huddled in foxholes or crouched in the bloody sands
under the fury of enemy guns here on Iwo Jima. Together they practiced virtue, patriotism, love of country, love of you and of me. Together they stand before the greatest soldier of them all – Jesus Christ, to receive the token of our triumph. For Christ has said: “Greater love than this no man hath then that he lay down his life for his friends.”
And so our beloved dead have gone from the world of hate to the world of eternal love.
The chaplain continued, “The heritage they have left us, the vision of a new world, [was] made possible by the common bond that united them in the drudgery of recruit training or here in the chaos of bursting shouts. Their only hope: that this unity will endure.”
From my recollection from last year's first girly pitch, Obama got about the same reaction: lots of noise and huzzahs, some boos, some cheers, some jeers.
Epidemic in the elementary school world: 11 new videos show impressionable school children praising Obama.
The videos, as best as can be determined, run from oldest to youngest, beginning with high school age youngsters down to kindergartners. The name of the school and the date the video was posted is listed as well. Thereafter, if it could be found or guess, the school's website is provided, followed by the original title given to the video and any notes added by whoever uploaded the tape to YouTube.
Video Title: “Multico’s Finale is Obama’s victory speech!“
Video Note: Each year, MULTICO, a company of West High School students chosen to reflect the diverse ethnic and racial population of Madisons schools, tours elementary and middle schools with an original thirty minute production focusing on the concerns and experiences of children and adolescents in a multicultural, multilingual urban environment. MULTICO, a two hour a day English class, writes and performs a series of short sketches that highlight race, gender, sexuality and conflict, providing another tool for classroom teachers to use as we all work towards a more empathetic world.

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, today is your answer.
It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled — Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of red states and blue states; we are, and always will be, the United States of America.
So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other.
The true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding hope.
For that is the true genius of America — that America can change. Our union can be perfected. And what we have achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.
America, we have come so far. But there is so much more to do. This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time — to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and to restore the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:
Video Note: This song was inspired by President-Elect Barack Obama’s campaign theme. Morgan Park High School Concert Choir of Chicago, IL are the singers on this video. The song was composed by Patricia Tyson (from Chicago), and its intent is to encourage and motivate the listeners and the performers to pursue a more excellent way!
This song has been submitted with the hopes that it will be sung at the Inauguration in Washington, DC!

BARACK OBAMA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL — 1-31-2009
If you think the Nobel committee jumped the gun… Days after the 2008 presidential election Ludlum Elementary in Long Island petitioned and won the right to have the name of their school changed to Barack Obama Elementary.
Watch this:
consider if the Nobel committee’s rationale couldn’t be that much different than the students questioned in the news report.
The video below isn’t of students singing but of a woman named Janelle Kirton performing the school song. The song doesn’t mention Obama, it just relies heavily on his platitudes, but pay special attention to the school decorations inter-cut throughout the video.
In order, the speakers are: George Leef, Richard Vedder, Margaret Spellings, and Michael Lomax.
-----
The rapid growth of China, India, Brazil and other emerging powers has dramatically altered the complexion of the global economy in recent years. At the same time, rising deficits, high trade imbalances, a declining dollar, and a lingering economic downturn have placed America's position within the global economy in peril-and have policymakers deliberating over the keys to America's economic future.
One area often cited as critical to the nation's future economic strength is higher education, particularly that America must dramatically increase the number of college-educated citizens to remain a leading economic power. - Miller Center of Public Affairs
George Leef is Director of Research at the John William Pope Center for Higher Education Policy in Raleigh, NC. He was previously on the faculty of Northwood University and a policy adviser in the Michigan Senate.
Richard Vedder is the Director of the Center for College Affordability and Productivity--an independent higher education think tank in Washington, DC. He is also Distinguished Professor of Economics at Ohio University and an adjunct scholar at the American Enterprise Institute.
Margaret Spellings, U.S. Secretary of Education from 2005 to 2009, is the President and CEO of Margaret Spellings and Company and a leading national expert in public policy. Spellings also serves as Senior Advisor to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Executive Vice President of the National Chamber Foundation, and Senior Advisor to the Boston Consulting Group.

The new Health Care Bill, H.R. 3200, just passed by Congress has within it the requirement that all people thereunder shall be micro-chipped. The plans for this micro-chipping date to 2004.
An FDA (Food and Drug Administration) document dated December 10, 2004 entitled “Class II Special Guidance Document: Implantable Radiofrequency Transponder System for Patient Identification and Health Information revealed the plan. The document may be read at:
http://www.fda.gov/downloads/MedicalDevices/DeviceRegulationandGuidance/GuidanceDocuments/ucm072191.pdfNow
In addition, H.R. 3200, “America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009” found on Congresses’ House Ways and Means website,
http://waysandmeans.house.gov/media/pdf/111/AAHCA09001xml.pdf, on page 1001 is “Subtitled C – National Medical Device Registry” states:
“The Secretary shall establish a national medical device registry (in this subsection referred to as the ‘registry’) to facilitate analysis of postmarket safety and outcomes data on each device that … is or has been used in or on a patient…”
In other words, everyone micro-chipped pursuant to the new Health Care Bill must be registered with the Secretary. The “Secretary” is defined as the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
The date by which this registry is to begin is mandated on page 1006, which is 36 months after the Health Bill becomes law.
(2) EFFECTIVE DATE. – The Secretary of Health and Human Services shall establish and begin implementation of the registry under section 519(g) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, as added by paragraph (1) by not later than the date that is 36 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, without regard to whether of not final regulations to establish and operate the registry have been promulgated by such date.
Therefore, under the law of H.R. 3200 recently passed by Congress, micro-chipping of Americans must begin by the year 2013.
There are parallels between the requirements of implanting and the age-old warning in the Bible: Revelation 13:16 and 17, states: “And he [the AntiChrist] causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”
New York Times economic columnist Paul Krugman stated to another panelist who had interjected, "Death panels would save money," to which Krugman responded:
The advisory panel which has the ability to make more or less binding judgments on saying this particular expensive treatment actually doesn't do any good medically and so we are not going to pay for it. That is actually going to save quite a lot of money. We don't know how much yet. The CBO gives it very little credit but, but most, most of the health care economists I talk to think that's going be a really, uh a really major cost saving.
In the United Kingdom and other nations where such government procedures already are in place, the survival rates for such afflictions as breast cancer or prostate cancer are lower than in the U.S. Critics say it is partly because of denial or delay of treatment.

“Democratic Senator: Health Care Law to Address ‘Mal-Distribution of Income’”
“After the Senate passed a “fix-it” bill Thursday to make changes to the new health care law, Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the influential Finance Committee, said the overhaul was an “income shift” to help the poor.
The Senator stated that the legislation would address the “mal-distribution of income in America.”
After the Senate passed a “fix-it” bill Thursday to make changes to the new health care law, Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the influential Finance Committee, said the overhaul was an “income shift” to help the poor.
“Too often, much of late, the last couple three years, the mal-distribution of income in American is gone up way too much,” he said. “Wages have not kept up with increased income of the highest income in America. This legislation will have the effect of addressing that mal-distribution of income in America.”

Chechen Link to subway blast
Chechnya is predominantly Muslim. Most of the Chechens belong to the Shafi`i school of thought of Sunni Islam.
CNN's Atika Shubert looks at a possible Chechen connection to attacks in Russia, including twin subway blasts.
'President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton adapted a clear Palestinian point of view,' said the anonymous aide. 'This is a sick and insane matter; it is a catastrophic situation. We are facing a hostile administration like never before.'
I am writing you today to express my deep concern. I am but one of the many silent casualties of healthcare reform. Currently I am a high school junior who is considering my future. One path I am pondering is becoming a doctor. I am an honor student, active in sports, and am taking advanced placement college classes. The fact that I enjoy biology, chemistry, and helping others made me consider the long, arduous journey towards a medical degree.
Recently though, I heard a new phrase in the healthcare debate that gave me cause for concern, "healthcare is a right". My understanding of a right has always been that we were born with it, and it can never come at the expense of others' rights. How can you now lay claim to my hard work and future talents? I now feel that if I choose the medical profession I would become a second class citizen.
My dear American friend, after eight years of intense study, many more years of internship and residency, not to mention the hundreds of thousands in debt, I feel the price I am being asked to pay not just in dollars, but in my freedom is more than I can bear. I ask how many more silent voices in classrooms, from my fellow students with an equal passion for healing the sick, will never be heard in clinics and hospitals across this great country?
Mike Lackomar of Michigan-Militia.com said he heard from other militia members that the FBI targeted the Hutaree after its members made threats against Islamic organizations.
Although there had been reports the Hutaree may have targeted Muslims, there is no mention in the indictment of any threats against them.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations issued a statement Sunday asking federal law enforcement officials to release more information about possible threats against Muslims.
"Given the recent sharp spike CAIR offices nationwide have observed in anti-Islam rhetoric, it would not be surprising that an extremist group would seek to turn that bigoted rhetoric into violent actions," said Nihad Awad, CAIR national executive director in Washington.
Andrew Breitbart witnessed first hand today the violence against him. Harry Reid supporters stood on the highway to Searchlight and held signs pointing TEA party protesters in the wrong direction. Andrew also witnessed these violent leftists attacking the Tea Party Express bus with eggs as it drove by. The Harry Reid supporters then swarmed him, harassed him and made false statements to the police.
Obama's "more pragmatic tone" has soured connections between the U.S. and Great Britain, marking the end of the special relationship that has existed between the two countries since 1945.
In this video age everything is on tape somewhere and the attempt at provoking TEA party activists did not work. The gloating Congressional representatives did not need to walk through the crowd but of course they did in an attempt to capture an embarrassing incident on tape. Second, note that when the representatives walked directly through the crowd an aid has cameras in both hands. The idea must have been to document an infraction. It did not work because other than exercise their constitutional right to address their government for a redress of grievances nothing happened. Nothing intentional happened at least intentionally.
When Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) claimed that a TEA protester spat upon he is shown here to be off base. Clearly an activist is yelling and directly in his face. However, unless the protester wanted to spit into his own hands, not likely, he did not spit upon the Representative. Another odd aspect of the alleged incident is that the two-handed cameraman walked right by the alleged spitee taping him but no documented tape emerged. In addition, despite the direct observation of the incident by a Capitol Hill police presence, there were no charges filed. Cleaver even walked back in attempt to identify the individual, and he is directly in front of him but he could not pick him out of the crowd.
At about 1:15 in the video, you can see a man with his hands cupped and Cleaver walking by. As the man yelled, it appears from Cleaver's body language, at most some saliva "sprayed."
The incident hardly represents "spitting," which would be a conscious act.
Note also that you do not hear a single "N" word shouted although Rep. Carson (D-IN) claims he heard it 15 times.
Sometimes taping backfires; too bad Rep. Cleaver it shows you as a fool.
African-American congressmen were subjected to nothing but "Kill the bill" which is in a citizen's right. However, this is how William Douglas of McClatchy Newspapers described the alleged incident.
WARNING: RACIAL EPITHET AHEAD, AS IT APPEARED IN THE NEWSPAPER:
Demonstrators outside the U.S. Capitol, angry over the proposed health care bill, shouted “nigger” Saturday at U.S. Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia congressman and civil rights icon who was nearly beaten to death during an Alabama march in the 1960s…
“They were shouting, sort of harassing,” Lewis said. “But, it’s okay, I’ve faced this before. It reminded me of the 60s. It was a lot of downright hate and anger and people being downright mean.”
Lewis said he was leaving the Cannon office building across from the Capitol when protesters shouted “Kill the bill, kill the bill,” Lewis said.
“I said ‘I’m for the bill, I support the bill, I’m voting for the bill’,” Lewis said.
A colleague who was accompanying Lewis said people in the crowd responded by saying “Kill the bill, then the n-word.”
Did you catch that last part? As Jack Cashill at the American Thinker points out, there’s some sleight of hand going on here. Lewis himself isn’t quoted as saying he heard it. The “n-word” claim is attributed to an unnamed colleague. Who? Apparently it doesn’t matter who.
Somehow this is turned into the headline, “Tea party protesters use racial epithet against Georgia’s John Lewis.” Not “Georgia’s John Lewis claims” or “Colleague of Georgia’s John Lewis alleges.” No, they make a direct statement of fact that is, based on the story itself, tenuous at best. Some guy who was with Lewis claims he heard somebody yell something. Nothing untoward happened.
Two more tapes emerged of the alleged incident that do not contain the "N" word.
The Israeli position was met with anger from Saudi Arabia, where an official criticized its "policy of arrogance and stubbornness in defying the will of the international community."
The research sample for the Collaboration Nation study consisted of responses from IT decision makers and business end users across the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Spain, Italy Russia, India, China and Japan, who completed an online survey in October and November 2009.
IT Decision Makers Plan to Invest in Collaboration to Improve Business Performance
The research found that ITDMs recognize the importance of collaboration tools to the future success of their business, with India and China being the most progressive in adopting the technology. Consequently, many ITDM respondents said that they are planning to increase their spending on collaboration technologies over the next year, identifying video conferencing, Web conferencing and Internet Protocol telephony as primary areas of investment.
Kelly: What is to stop this openly pro-choice President from reversing himself on this? We’ve seen him on the other deals that were offered to get Senator’s votes in connection with this bill. What is to stop him from reversing himself on this executive order now that he has got your vote?
Stupak: Well that’s why we have asked for it to be public. We will have a public signing of this …
Kelly: The Senate deals were public too …
Stupak: I know. And you’re right, Megyn, there is nothing that would stop this President from a month from now, a year from now, 10 years from now, [from] repealing this executive order.

A tax on toilet paper; I kid you not. According to the sponsor, "the Water Protection and Reinvestment Act will be financed broadly by small fees on such things as . . . products disposed of in waste water." Congress wants to tax what you do in the privacy of your bathroom.
