The interaction between Gibbs, White House spokesperson, and the veteran press, is fascinating to watch. With their long years in the White House, their collective experience as illustrated recently from video clips, they are identifying the shockingly closed nature of discussion from the Obama White House. The First Amendment suffers when citizens can not obtain simple answers to their questions. The questions and answers are scripted and the Obama regime is ignoring the protests building up.
Helen Thomas, self-proclaimed liberal reporter, has stated: “They ought to be hanging their heads in shame.”
The Press Corps is having a difficult time with Obama and at 89, Thomas is a veteran White House reporter who has covered every administration since John F. Kennedy. When a self-proclaimed liberal reporter such as Thomas compares Obama unfavorably to Nixon, this is significant. She’s a reporter, calling it the way she sees it:
"Not even Nixon tried to control the media like Obama," Thomas stated.
“Nixon didn’t try to do that,” Thomas said. “They couldn’t control (the media). They didn’t try."
She continued: “What the hell do they think we are, puppets?” Thomas said. “They’re supposed to stay out of our business. They are our public servants. We pay them.”
In particular, Thomas was disturbed by a reporter from the Huffington Post. She stated: “When you call the reporter the night before you know damn well what they are going to ask to control you.”
Thomas explained: “I’m not saying there has never been managed news before, but this is carried to fare-thee-well–for the town halls, for the press conferences,” she said. “It’s blatant. They don’t give a damn if you know it or not. They ought to be hanging their heads in shame.”
